Last week I reached the halfway point in my zine project - ten pages down, ten to go. (You can follow along week-by-week in my pop-up newsletter!)
It feels fantastic to be engaged with creating visual fiction on a daily basis.
In the process of choosing the panels, their sequence and composition, how and when to weave in words, I’ve had to dig back into my library of notes on visual storytelling technique.
The result is a mini-flurry of useful letters — starting today!
I’m beginning with an attempt to explain semiotics in a way that a) you can understand, and b) is relevant to filmmakers, screenwriters and comics artists.
I always found semiotics obscure and poorly explained but, once I cracked it, it elevated my visual storytelling immensely.
