#117 The Best Filmmaking Technique I Know
Let me tell you about The Golden Action and why it's so awesome
Hello from Paris! It’s lovely to be back here after a long nine months, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. It’s a brief trip, but one I hope C and I can make more often now that travel is a possibility again.
I — by the way — am Adam and this is The Third Something, a newsletter I write as I make films and draw stories. It’s free, usually turns up on a Sunday; you can unsubscribe at any time.
If you are new here, welcome!
Don’t worry about being late to the party. My website now has an archive of all my letters, organised by tags. You can pick a topic and explore! 👀

It’s about a very unique, some might say strange, visual storytelling technique that produces unforgettable moments.
The first time I saw it used in an Alfred Hitchcock film, I was reduced to tears. But I’ve hardly ever seen it used again.
I hope you’re finding this mini-series of craft letters helpful. A lot of it is material I was saving for a course or a book but hey, there’s no time like the present.
Until another Sunday soon,
